E-banking and Finance Master Program (with thesis)

The Banking and Finance Department is currently preparing 300 students for the high demands of the banking and finance sector. The Department is in collaboration agreements with Institute of Canadian Bankers (ICB) and John Deutsch International Executive Program (JDI) of Queen's University.

The online master program for executives in banking and finance gives the candidates a chance of becoming experts in their selected areas of expertise. Some of these areas are project financing, corporate financing, investment appraisal, financial investments, international finance, risk assessment, personal finance, and residential mortgage loans. The graduates will have the most up-to-date knowledge in banking and finance sector, and they will have the communication skills and analytical thinking abilities to apply this knowledge to solve recent problems faced in the sector.

The 7-courses and the thesis online program can be completed with a part-time schedule. Students can take some of their elective courses on-line from the Institute of Canadian Bankers (ICB) to obtain a professional diploma called AICB while they are completing their master's degree in Banking and Finance at EMU. This enables the graduates of this program to find jobs more easily in the international markets.

  1. Application letter including a statement of purpose and a CV (can be sent by email to EMU Graduate Institute)
  2. The Bachelors degree diploma (a copy can be sent in electronic form, but if accepted, the diploma must be sent to EMU Registrars Office before registration to the program)
  3. A transcript showing grades for courses taken during bachelors degree studies (a copy can be sent in electronic form, but if accepted, an official transcript must be sent to EMU Registrars Office before registration to the program)
  4. Three letters of reference
  5. Candidates must hold a bachelors degree in a related field with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.50/4.00 or equivalent
  6. Candidates must have at least TWO years of working experience in the field.
  7. Language proficiency document: TOEFL (paper based: at least 550, computer based: at least 213, Internet based: 80), or IELTS (at least 6.5). If there is no such document available, before formal acceptance to the program, the student will be asked to take the EMU English Proficiency exam. The online masters program for executives in banking and finance is composed of 7 courses and a thesis. There is also a non-credit seminar course for the thesis studies. Four of the courses are Core Courses (must be taken). The other 3 courses can be selected from the list of Elective Courses.
